A downloadable game for Windows

Recursive Journey is a virtual reality installation that explores the artistic relationship between the viewer and a recursive digital space. The work unfolds in two complementary parts, inviting the viewer to become both creator and performer of their own experience:

🌀 In the first part, visitors interact with shapes in front of a camera-screen setup, generating real-time fractal patterns. These ever-evolving compositions were shared online, extending the experience beyond the exhibition through a dedicated website.

🌈 In the second part, motion capture transforms the visitor into a stickman. Their movements are multiplied in the virtual space, forming a generative, music-backed choreography of abstract forms and colors.

Each session leaves a trace—creating an evolving gallery of past interactions.

This project was created between September and October 2024 around the theme Pop Chaos.
It was exhibited at Recto VRso 2025, in the Lab’ Recherche & Création selection, where 107 visitors played it:

Install instructions

The second part is expecting full body tracking using SteamVR trackers, but you can still play the experience without.

The SteamVR trackers roles are:

  • Left foot
  • Right foot
  • Waist
